About This Project

The Kentucky/Idaho/Clemson (KIC) Plant Biomechanics Consortium is a collaboration of scientists and engineers forming a mulidisciplinary team who are working together to address the problem of stalk lodging. Stalk lodgning (snapping of plant stems prior to harvest) reduces gobal grain yield by approximately 20% annually. This project is funded by The National Science Foundation's (NSF) Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR). In depth information about the project can be found here.
